Pyxism - the new travel opportunity launching in several days already has members from over 20 different countries. What drew them during this quiet prelaunch?

Lloyd Wilson, the founder and CEO of Pyxism is a veteran network marketer and former part-owner of a network marketing company. He presents himself and his opportunity with a humility and a sense of commitment to each individual member that is hard to ignore or question. Mr. Wilson's willingness to admit mistakes in previous ventures and his description of his vision for Pyxism is contagious.

Before 2009, there were few if any low entry cost travel clubs for steeply discounted vacations. An online marketer for a travel club had to spend thousands of dollars for entry into the club in order to represent it. Last year, several new, low-cost clubs (approximately $300) appeared on the scene, many located outside the United States. Problems with currency exchange and the requirements of US laws for network marketing companies presented ongoing problems. Like all network marketing companies, some people made money while others did not. A common denominator between all network marketing companies has been the inability of the average person to recruit many people.

Travel, no doubt, has its place as just about the prima online business opportunity, with over 50% of money spent online going to that one industry. It is also easy to recommend to others - one hardly needs convincing to take a cheap, luxury vacation vs. a new lotion, potion or pill.

But the average recruiter could still find himself lost in the Internet jungle. Enter Lloyd Wilson, who admits he himself is not a recruiting superstar, but has an almost eerie ability to untangle and restructure compensation plans. Wilson appears to be able to look at a plan and almost immediately see its pluses and minuses.

Wilson formed Pyxism with a dream. A California corporation named after the Pyxis constellation in the southern skies (used by navigators while sailing for directions and to locate true North), Wilson envisions a company that provides the great travel, with a low entry fee ($325), and a compensation plan that accounts for the inability of the average person to recruit insane numbers of people.

Over the past year or so, the 2 x 3 matrix compensation plan made a big comeback, as other unilevel or residual based plans took a tumble. With the turn in the economy, at least in the United States, it became difficult even for super-recruiters to keep their customers on a monthly auto-ship of a product. Families needed a way to earn, not spend money.

Travel has not suffered the economic eruptions faced by other industries, and it is a commodity that can be sold without the need for monthly autoship thereby eliminating a need for residual-based compensation plans.

But how to do it? The forced matrix was created, but problems arose with these precisely because of the "average" recruiter factor and the fact that the matrices (boards) split when a person reached the top - causing that person to potentially lose his personal recruits and teammates underneath him. In addition, those underneath him could be from totally unrelated teams and deadbeats who'd made the purchase and just sat there. Without action, the boards wouldn't move and the people would not earn their commissions.

Wilson created the "true follow me" matrix, where a member follows his or her sponsor at all times, and created a compensation structure that rewards people quickly on the front end (most companies have two "boards") board over and over again. Something the other companies have done - and the chunk of change is substantial at $1,250 a pop!

When one progresses to the next matrix/board, following their sponsor, the member earns $8000 (and reentry to the board, plus travel bonuses) over and over again. Where Wilson's genius arises is in his built-in incentive for a member's upline to help him and for him to help his downline. Each time a member leaves the second board and earns $8,000 - his sponsor and his sponsor's sponsor each earn $1,000. The same will happen to that member when his sponsees move off the board.

Wilson wanted to create a company where there was true give and take - at the corporate level and the team level. By keeping the teams together and providing a substantial upline and downline income incentive - Wilson eradicated the problems with his predecessors.

So what about the products? Like other companies, they are first class, steeply discounted and might even encourage Americans to vacation more - something they don't do as much as people from other countries. If one can stay at an elegant resort in Fiji for pennies on the dollar, the idea of traveling becomes more attractive.

Plus, with the ongoing retirement of Baby Boomers over the next 18 years, no doubt many will travel. Add that to the home business growth phenomenon, born out of the traditional entrepreneurial spirit, technology advances and the insecurity of working for anyone else - and Pyxism is perfectly position to be a major player in the travel industry in 2010 and onwards if this proceeds as Wilson envisions.

And being a major player is more than enough in the travel industry, both for the underlying company and its members - travel is an $8 trillion a year enterprise and continues strong despite the economy.

Wilson's hope is that Pyxism will be a breath of fresh air, not just another network marketing company.

He might just achieve this. Pyxism was not scheduled to launch until June, 2010 but the overwhelming global response of marketers eager to get in on the deal caused the company to move ahead faster. It already boasts members and teams in over 20 countries, and there are still several days until the official launch on January 11, 2010.

Pyxism might be the company you are looking for if you are looking for teamwork, relationships, and are not the lone ranger who has to do everything for himself.

Pyxism is a great alternative to a high end travel ticket business. MaryAnn, thanks for leaving this hub page because it offers great info for someone taking a look at it.
